buzzbuzz

My cousin planted these sunflowers as seeds before he was pinched and thrown back in the slammer.

Our aunt re-planted them in the backyard against our fence and they grew lovely but smallish blooms. Bees kept getting in my way while photographing them.

Deep forest settings, majestic mountain views, jumping into desert landscapes.

A stranger's old vacation photos - I still wonder who took the pictures, as they're not included in any of the other shots. Maybe their camera had a self-timer.I still wonder where this is. The images are beautiful.

Hungry

This monster caterpillar was hanging around on one of the buttonwood trees.
My cousin maneuvered him onto one of the larger leaves and removed him from the tree.

Freaky Flyers

Some creatures around the house.
This bugger was enamored with my green onion. So much so that my camera didn't seem to bother him for an entire minute.

I was closing my car door when I noticed these two monsters copulating on the roof. They made a fierce buzzing sound when I got the camera out. But they didn't stop. Of course, after taking this picture I got in my car and drove off, so I'm not certain if they got to finish.

In addition to

In addition to all the rain we've been getting, I've also acquired some mushrooms.Once one of these grew out of the carpeted floor in our camper/trailer. No kidding. It was awful.
They're no shiitake.

Weirdness

Eggs! Are they fish eggs? Lizard eggs? Amphibian eggs? Chicken eggs? You be the judge because I have no idea.
They're sticking out of the water in our backyard canal.
I suppose it's safe to say they're not bird eggs.I hope they're not rabid-monster-spider-eggs.

Yesterday I took the trash out to the curb and passed by a tree stump with some furry dark brown fungus on the surface.
I looked it up and saw that it's Brown Stemonitis Mold.
Fun name.

Charles in Charge

My new friend Charles has set off on a treacherous yet rewarding expedition through my backyard garden. He was kind enough to send back photos.

Here he is exploring Green Onion forest.

In search of the legendary cucumber. (there were none)

Busted

You're not supposed to be outside...

Monday, May 31, 2010

sorry, my garden's just so big...

A fantastic amount of rain has been gifted to the area, causing all the plants to become saturated with bold shades of green. The grass grows ten inches a day! (I didn't measure I'm just sayin'...)

I think only lizards live here.
Monsters!

it's..... really hot outside.

I mean, it's really, really hot outside. Like fire.
But my flowers are blooming. The last hurrah of my oregano plant.

The roses are for some reason preferring to grow on only one side of their container. Attempts to wrangle them closer to the center were thwarted by a good effort on their part to stay put exactly where they are.

A lily bloomed without my knowledge. But to be fair I wasn't paying attention.

Big Leaves

My philodendron has grown to enormous proportions despite the fact that it was never properly planted and was cut in half by a misjudged landscaping accident.
And now it's trying to reproduce.
